Seventh Workshop on SMART Cable Systems: From the Laboratory to the Ocean Floor

Introduction
The International Telecommunication Union is hosting the Seventh workshop on "SMART Cable Systems: From the Workshop to the Ocean Floor" in New Orleans, United States, 12 April 2019, 9am-3pm, immediately after the SubOptic 2019 conference 8-11 April 2019.
Discussions will be held in English.
Objectives
The event will focus on practical next steps related to enlisting national and international governments and funding sources (e.g., multilateral development banks) in upcoming cable projects and engaging with cable industry suppliers at an engineering level.
Target Audience
The workshop is intended for members of the cable and telecom industry (suppliers, owners or potential owners, and operators of submarine cable systems). Members of academia and the scientific community seeking a briefing on the current state of SMART cables are welcome to attend. Participation is free of charge.
